UNIVOC started in 2017 as a CBO responding to marginalized and vulnerable people like youths, children and women from extreme poverty to sustainable livelihood and resilience. We empower youth with Vocational skills, formal education, modern farming promotion, marketing and value addition to farmers produce, gender youth and social inclusion, environmental conservation, mobilization and community empowerment through saving groups (VSLAs) the members are empowered to save and borrow money to start income generating activities.
We train groups on sexual reproductive health, family planning, positive parenting, identify and address social barriers of up taking health services by giving health information, demystifying the myths in order to increase demand and access to health services The core beneficiaries of UNIVOC are marginalized and vulnerable group. However, our operations require collaboration with other stakeholders like Government and NGOs. The project has impacted lives of over 1,080 vulnerable youth, children and women with vocational skills. UNIVOC operates two youth driven skill Centre’s in Mbale City; specializing in provision of Tailoring skills majorly to youths and the other providing Carpentry skills to people in the age group of 16-35 both in school and out of school. To accomplish our vision and mission, UNIVOC works through partnerships with similar minded organizations to achieve the common goal. To deliver the right skills to our beneficiaries, we have partnered with Addie Innovations - who are professionals in skills development.
