Welcome

Pursuant to the achievement of Strategic Development Goals, UNIVOC seeks to contribute towards the development and improvement of Human potential through advocacy for skill based training for self-reliance. The long-lived advocacy for literacy rate reduction in Uganda and other developing countries has ignited scored high in the establishment of educational strategies for example free education, and scholarship programs. This has however raised a new problem;

Vocational Skills

"Imagine a world where every young person has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. This is the world we envision at UNIVOC, and we invite you to join us on this journey." In Elgon Zone, 65% of youth are out of school, with limited access to education, skills training, and employment opportunities. This has led to a cycle of poverty, unemployment, and dependency, perpetuating a culture of hopelessness and despair. The statistics are alarming: 75% of youth are unemployed, and 60% live below the poverty line. By addressing these challenges, we are contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 1 (No Poverty) and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

More

At UNIVOC, we believe that empowering youth with practical skills and knowledge is key to breaking this cycle and unlocking their full potential. Our vocational training programs provide youth with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce. By offering training in areas such as agriculture, carpentry, hairdressing, and tailoring, we equip youth with the skills they need to start their own businesses or secure employment. This approach is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), as it promotes economic growth, employment, and decent work for all.

The impact of our empowerment programs is tangible. 85% of youth who complete our vocational training programs go on to secure employment or start their own businesses. Moreover, 90% of our graduates report an increase in their income, and 80% report an improvement in their overall well-being. By achieving these outcomes, we are also contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as we foster partnerships with local stakeholders, organizations, and individuals to create a supportive ecosystem for youth development. We invite you to join us in empowering youth in Elgon Zone, and together, let's transform their lives and contribute to a more sustainable future for  all.
